Family Vacation Day!

Today is a special day at Natalie's daycare as she is going to be taking about our recent family vacation.  We haven't really gone too far away from home this summer with a busy almost 2 year old and a pregnant Mommy but we did take an overnight trip to Des Moines, making a pit stop at the zoo for a day earlier this month so we considered that our family vacation.

Here she is all ready to go to daycare with her giraffe
and memory book all about her day at the zoo.

I'm sure she'll have lots of fun today sharing with all the little kids in her class all about her day at the zoo and all the fun animals she got to see!

Last weekend of July....

This past weekend - the last weekend of July was a weird one,
weather wise....but I loved it.  Spent most of Saturday cleaning the house,
I mean deep cleaning with the windows wide open, it was great.
We took it easy in the afternoon and even enjoyed a crockpot of chili.

After nap time Natalie and I ran out and did some quick errands.....then we had supper and chocolate malts for dessert......the weather has gotten to us...
chili for lunch and malts to go along with supper - I know, call us weird.

Sunday we enjoyed another great church service, a yummy lunch which consisted of something grilled and after a quick nap we headed to Wendall's house for a family get together.....grilled out and let the kids have fun outside together....running and playing ball!

The 4 crazy cousins....

Onto another great week with wonderful temps.....

Busy Girl!

This is just one of the many things that keep our little girl busy these days,
she is always playing (a.k.a moving) these cheap old plastic chairs
(that were actually given to us - so free) around outside, you would like laugh at all the different ways she lines these chairs up and/or talks to her baby, kitty and Elmo as she carefully places each one in their special chair.  I finally took the time to take a few pictures and document this fun thing that I so want to remember about Natalie's wonderful time as a toddler, she has a great imagination already and I can't wait to see where it takes her next!

As you can see this is a very "serious" job for Natalie - no smiles here!
Oh she is so funny.....it just makes me smile,
no really I laugh every time I see these pictures!

Hudson Days!

We had a great weekend, enjoying some of the Hudson Day events!
Friday night included dressing this "Little Piggy" up so that she and a couple cute neighbor girls could be apart of the Kiddie Parade.
This year's theme was "Down on the Farm".

The Dads got to push the "little pigs" in the parade....

And they even won the "Queens' Choice Award - Winner",
which included coupons for ice cream - yummy!

After the parade we enjoyed pie in the park and also did a little playing!

Then onto a trolley ride...

P.S. Come to find out Grandma this is the same couple that came to Aplington on the beautiful evening in December to give us a ride around town.
"Country Gentleman's Horse Carriage Service" and they remembered us.....
look now they have this awesome enclosed carriage....

Here's a quick snapshot of Frannie, who stopped by to see the Little Piggy off to her parade...she even decided to sport her cute little ears!

Dad & Lanette also came to see the parade,
it was fun having them spend the evening with us!

Then on Saturday we took our now 23 month old to the parade!

Here she is all ready to go.....

Daddy & Natalie ready for the parade to start...

Our friends Brynlee & Brittany joined us as well!

Collecting and/or eating the candy - Natalie favorite were the suckers!

Brynlee busy collecting all the candy!

Cute girls sporting their shades...

After the parade with enjoyed some of the fun in the park,
first stop the petting zoo with lots of different animals!

Then onto lunch, which included watermelon...

and a little of Daddy's ice cream!

One last stop before heading home for a nice long nap was we just had to see what the chainsaw guy was carving......it ended up being a bear!

Thanks to the town of Hudson and the nice sunny weather
we got to enjoy some local fun this weekend......
